Vibrant autumnal colour is spreading right through my garden. The image below was taken this morning, and has leapt straight to my favourite image of the year ( knocking off the bee and the hollyhock ) What an incredible colour Tihonia rotundifloia ‘The Torch’ is . This annual was grown from seed in late March , and is now towering 8ft tall in my garden.

Slow walks through my garden on a daily basis, fills my soul ( and numerous flower vases )with true happiness. Some might say ” isn’t this garden a little all over the place ?” I wouldn’t disagree. Perennials and annuals are definitely cascading into each other – but i’m not big on staking plants. I would say “I really like the fact that I have created a garden that is a huge living abstract plant tapestry ”

September finds us, starting to gather crops. This collection, really was a small amount from our fruit laden trees, which then headed off to a community apple pressing day. Sunday afternoon was spent in the sunshine, with many friends we haven’t seen in ages. We pressed apples, laughed, drank and ate cake, it was a truly perfect afternoon.

Over the last couple of years , I have been taken with no dig. If you are not quite sure what this entails, I have written a number of blogs about its merits – No Dig . The following images are this years successes ! I think there is a cake or two to be made with this Trombanico courgette, and there are several squashes waiting to be roasted.

If you have ever read my blog, you will know I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm about propagating from seeds and cuttings. However, I just wanted to point out that I don’t grow everything from seed. These bargain buys found their way into my shopping trolley in May, as I had forgotten to grow chilli peppers and aubergines. I am now really looking forward to cooking with them.

And to finish this blog, I’d like to share the below images. I like to think of this arrangement as a floriferous, joyous, colourful and bohemian celebration of my lovely friend, who led a great and long life.

Enjoy autumn and enjoy life x
