I consider my seed tins still serve their original  functions. Edibles  in the cake tin  and beneficial to wildlife  in the  first aid .   And most importantly not a scrap of plastic.009

My  thoughts (and notes)  on seed  and plant acquisitions are complete.  With my greenhouse being unheated,  l think I will leave sowing for  another week or two.  Hopefully by then light levels and temperatures should have risen sufficiently for a healthy start.

As long as my greenhouse is ready to go by the first weekend in April I will be happy.  Last year I celebrated   Greenhouse Day  Why not put a note in your diary and  join in  this year.  My horticultural activities included seed sowing and  potting on dahlias and gladioli.  Non  horticultural activities included  cooking a curry and having a beer whilst sitting on my greenhouse sofa. It is fair to say It was a great start to my greenhouse year.

007My sister Lou, has been telling me to check out  Higgledy Garden seeds website for a fair while, she said I would love the seeds and packaging  (and I do).   My order arrived within three days, all in brown paper packets, with the most gorgeous logo, and a hand written postcard wishing me ” a wonderful summer with lots of beautiful flowers”.  With the packet being made  from paper (and not shiny plastic) I can note down relevant care info from the website directly onto it, which again is something I really like.

Top marks to the R.H.S.  They are now sending out the Garden magazine in a paper envelope, and there is a new series on gardening without plastic.  This is going to be an interesting year, as I intend  to go plastic free in my garden.  I will keep my attempts and thoughts on my blog.
