April, my greenhouse is full of seedlings.

I prefer to sow into modules,  growing them on until they are established plants, prior to planting out.  I garden organically in a garden full of slugs and snails.   If I broadcast my seeds  directly into the raised beds, I know my propagation survival rate would be seriously dented..

It has been a glorious day in my garden.  Fritillaria and tulips shone in the sunshine; it was also time to start pricking out seedlings.  One thing crossed my mind though, how on earth was I going to fit  all my newly pricked out seeds back into my greenhouse?  Thankfully  I had a marvelous space-saving idea.     Rather than pricking out individually I mixed combinations of  cultivars into each module.   I will now grow these on within my greenhouse, and plant out early June.

This  same application will be applied to  more of my favourite plants –  Tithonia, Ammi majus and Amaranthus Love Lies  Bleeding in a few weeks time.

Tomorrow,  I intend to start clearing a border that is presently full of nettles, as I  have a new planting idea.   It won’t involved mixed planting, just a lovely bench from our old Manchester family home, and  a mass of Globe artichokes.   I fully intend to be sitting  with a beer,  surrounded by these huge plants  whilst watching the sunset over the coming summer months.   I do love a gardening project, and I think this might well  be a great one.
