From seeds sown in my unheated greenhouse on the March 23rd, to a profusion of buds, flowers and seed heads in less than four months. These are really straight forward seeds to propagate, germinate, grow on, plant out, and enjoy.
Helichrysum Salmon Rose. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching this plant change colour from its juvenile form to maturity – it has been quite chameleon like. Who would have thought that egg yolk yellow and salmon pink could look this good ?
August finds the garden in various life cycle stages. From tight bud, to half unfurled, to full on glorious late summer flowering mode. Some are now moving onto seed pod formation stage.
Dahlia Black Beauty (Thompson and Morgan seed) is an essential plant in my garden. The juvenile petals are really dark – almost black, and lighten only slightly as they mature. Together with aubergine coloured Gladioli they provide a strong rhythm of colour to take your eye through the entire border.
Amenantheles lessonii continues to swish and sway through the border. This self seeding grass plays an important role, as it links the garden into one cohesive design, and covers over many of the containers I use to grow my plants in.
Additional mages from the garden earlier this week. I hope you enjoy them.
As much as I love walking through my garden, I also enjoy a late summer capsule collection in the kitchen.
