Mid May, and the greenhouse is full.
Before all the seed sown plants are eventually planted out, they need hardening off. I initially start this process by putting the young plants out in the day time, and back in the greenhouse on an evening, which slowly acclimatizes them to being outside permanently . After around a week of doing this, they will then just sit permanently outside, whilst I work out where to plant them.
Our garden is already really quite full , I seriously need to consider extending the planting beds. There are vast amounts of young flower and veg plants waiting to find an appropriate planting space.

I truly had no idea, it was raining quite this heavily, and was caught in a downpour last week whilst planting out this beautiful garden, which had been designed by Jack and Laura Willgoss from http://www.wildegoosenursery.co.uk
It will be fascinating watching the perennials and ornamental grasses mature over the next couple of years.

And finally, for this mid May blog, I wanted to share an image or three of Tulipa clusiana Peppermint Stick. What a perfect colour match with my work dress. This really is a stunning cerise pink and white perennial Tulip.
I hope you are enjoying your May gardens. I wonder if you have found a tulip ( or any flower ) colour match like me ?

I totally agree about Tithonia! I just took my own seedlings out from under the basement grow lights and I am leaving them on the western side of the house for now, as it has suddenly gotten quite warm.

Tithonia- what a stunning flower – isn’t it the most stunning colour ? I have a quite a few orange perennials for the garden this year . At the moment Geum Totally Tangerine is flowering really well !

Yes I love lots of orange in the garden – do you grow Asclepias tuberosa?

I haven’t grown Asclepias, I have checked it out on line – what a fantastic colour ! I bought a Diascia personata ‘ Orange Form’ yesterday – and have promptly propagated several cuttings from it – I just want my garden to be super vibrant in colour this year !
