Hi, and welcome to my gardening blog. If anything leaves you with a gardening query, why not send me a message, via the contact page, and I will try to help.

What is this image all about ? – Well, it is the very last image to be taken using my phone to appear on the blog. Its time to re- attach my camera to my tripod and fill my blog with super sharp Panasonic lumix images.
In March I decided to write a “grow your own” series starting with Ready Steady Grow – Part 1. . Here we are in early August, and the garden is pretty much how I wanted it to look and feel for the summer of 2020. This is the final blog of the series.
Just a quick reminder of how my garden has changed from early spring, through to July – it has altered quite a lot…
Every year, I like to experiment with new planting ideas, and the majority of these “ideas” are grown from seed. I keep a sowing diary, and it all started on the 21st March 2020 in my unheated greenhouse.
This is my garden in August 2020.
It is proving to be another great year for Dahlias. New for this year is Amarananthus Coral Fountain. The tassels are so long !

Dahlia Black Beauty – seed from Thompson and Morgan
Amaranthus seed from Chiltern seeds
This is the first year I have grown perennials from seed . I am delighted with the results of these http://www.chilternseeds.co.uk and will definitely be growing more perennials in future years.

Monarda hybrida Lambada sown on 13.04.2020

Squirrel tail grass was sown on the 21.03.2020. Here it is with the pink spired Persicaria, and self seeding nasturtiums.
All the sunflowers were sown between the 5th and 18th April 2020. They have been flowering for weeks.
Tomatoes are slowly beginning to ripen, but they are worth waiting for .
I fully intend to spend more time sitting in my garden over the next few months, and will hopefully come up with a few new blogging ideas along the way. I have one or two ideas already …

Enjoy your August gardens everyone !
