My bulbs arrived. Over the years I have found that various rodents also enjoy this delivery. Mice in particular appear to be highly skilled at digging up demolishing crocus corms, so with this in mind I add a liberal amount of curry powder into my planting mix. I think it works as a deterrence.
I designed a winter display for The Raven’s Market Place ( here in Shropshire) Gourds have been sprayed, wire has been coiled around their stems to hang off orange segments and holly. Tiny snowballs have been made from air drying clay.
This open globe was constructed from Laburnum stems and held together with copper wire. You could use any pliable stems though. Contorted Hazel, Cotinus and Willow would make good alternatives.
At home, ornamental grasses and perennials have met their first frost. I look forward to a winter full of photographic opportunities as I follow the natural demise of their statuesque qualities.
I very much hope you enjoy your winter garden, as much as I do mine.
