imageMy summer flower combinations have ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous. After bringing the Tithonia to my kitchen windowsill to join some of my favourite cut flowers from my garden I realised it was the exact colour of my pan scrub, it truly made me laugh out loud.  I made a card for a friend describing it as a new art form “The utensilists “

On a more sublime level …  I could not believe how good my french beans and Gladioli Black Beauty looked together.image

In Judy’s garden on Wednesday  Veronicastrum, Acanthus, and the seed heads of  Valerian looked quite exquisite.

I wish this sanguisorba was running through my garden, instead, it is in Julia’s.  I fully intend to grow it in every garden I look after.  I just need to run this idea past my customers first though.  The back drop here is Crocosmia, however, I think it would look stunning in any colour combination003

What’s not to love about it? A long-lasting deep maroon flower, and due to the transparency of its stem structure I think it would work really well at the front, back and middle of any sunny border.

This summer  I intend to carry on finding combinations of flowers to fill my blog, my garden, my kitchen windowsill and greenhouse with light, hope and joy.
